New White Papers

If you have been wondering about the role of HetNets or how clever smart antennas really are...then worry not!

3GPP partner - 4G Americas has recently published four white papers - freely available online - that give an overview of the capabilities of 3GPP HSPA and LTE systems and look at these two key developments, being specified in 3GPP.

Digital Dividend - Part of the Plan

In a new white paper "The Benefits of Digital Dividend" the 3GPP Market Representation Partner - 4G Americas - discusses the importance of these bands and the Americas’ experiences, as the first region to deploy LTE mobile networks in the spectrum released by the switch-over from analogue to digital TV broadcast.

Status of the Global LTE1800 Market

This GSA report provides an up-to-date overview of the LTE1800 market worldwide, including details of the LTE1800 networks launched to date, as well as news of trials and studies.

Operators aim for Greener Mobile

The GSMA report “Mobile’s Green Manifesto” provides analysis of 34 mobile networks' progress on reducing global greenhouse gas emissions per connection by 40 per cent by 2020.

“This is the first ever detailed global estimate of mobile network energy consumption and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions and it shows that the mobile industry is making progress in reducing its own emissions and energy costs, as well as those in other industry sectors,” said Gabriel Solomon, Head of Regulatory Policy, GSMA.

The report calculates both the energy costs and the CO2e emissions that result from the electricity and diesel consumption of mobile networks.

LTE impressive growth in 2012

In its recent ‘Evolution of LTE Report’, the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) confirms that 338 operators in 101 countries have committed to LTE network deployment or trials for LTE FDD and LTE TDD system modes.

So far 89 LTE operators have launched services, the majority being LTE FDD systems with nine (9) commercial LTE TDD systems in operation.
