According to the 4G Americas industry body, LTE and HSPA accesses have put North America at the forefront of the mobile revolution, and are set to keep it there.

In a press release on the 14th march 2012, 4G Americas reported that HSPA mobile broadband technologies in North America passed 100 million connections last year (Source; Informa) and that 2 million LTE subscriptions were added in the last quarter of 2011 alone.

“The Americas region truly is a success story for many reasons,” stated Chris Pearson, President of 4G Americas. “Before the end of this year, more than one billion total subscriptions will be achieved for wireless technologies and the 3GPP family of technologies will comprise 78 percent of the market… the U.S. has become the global leader for advanced technologies and Latin America is quickly adopting these technologies as well.”
