The 3GPP Market Representation Partner - 5G Americas - has announced that it will cease operations from February 27, 2026.

From its beginnings as 3G Americas and throughout its tenure, our MRP dedicated to the Americas was a strident and effective pro-3GPP voice, informing and providing a meeting place for operators and vendors as the adoption of 3G, 4G LTE, 5G, 5G-Advanced took shape.

“It has been an extraordinary privilege to serve as President of 5G Americas and to work alongside some of the most dedicated leaders in our industry,” said Viet Nguyen, President of 5G Americas. “Together, we have helped shape the narrative around 5G and laid important groundwork for 5G-Advanced and 6G. I am deeply proud of the impact this organization has had in advancing innovation, collaboration, and thought leadership across North America and beyond.”

In a press release, dated February 19, 2026 5G Americas annouced that they will "complete their remaining initiatives, conclude ongoing administrative matters, and wind down operations on February 27, 2026".

The wireless community and 3GPP are losing a trusted voice and partner, who's role has been significant throughout each release and every generation of the 3GPP system.
