Digital Dividend - Part of the Plan

Sep 28,2012
In a new white paper "The Benefits of Digital Dividend" the 3GPP Market Representation Partner - 4G Americas - discusses the importance of these bands and the Americas’ experiences, as the first region to deploy LTE mobile networks in the spectrum released by the switch-over from analogue to digital TV broadcast.

The paper also examines the broader regional issues for these bands, and encourages other countries to make spectrum available for broadband mobile. "More spectrum is the single most important solution for the continued success of mobile communications throughout North, Central and South America," stated Chris Pearson, President of 4G Americas launching the white paper; "With a scarcity of this invaluable resource, there are few wireless considerations as important for regulators as allocating new spectrum for LTE service in their respective countries".

The 4G Americas paper provides a lot of data on the U.S. band plan for the Digital Dividend, but also gives the reader some insight to what is happening else-where to establish some core bands for LTE and to deliver economies of scale, better roaming and technical harmonization around the 3GPP eco-system…Get the Paper.
