CSAE to help drive standards

The China Society of Automotive Engineers has joined 3GPP as a Market Representation Partner (MRP). The CSAE's main aim is to promote the sustainable development of the automotive industry. Their past work has been on specifications and Group Standards for the mechanical domain. Now, they are turning their attention to the development of Intelligent Connected Vehicles and to a new role that will help bring China's automotive requirements in to the 5G standards work.

About China-SAE

China Society of Automotive Engineers (CSAE) is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote the healthy and sustainable development of the automotive industry. They number 45,700 individual members. Their formal request to become Market Representitive Partners (MRP) in 3GPP was approved by the Organizational Partners (the seven SDOs) by a process conducted by correspondence - and succesfully completed on July 30.

In his letter to the 3GPP leadership, Wu Wenqiang the CSAE standards project manager stated that "The Intelligent connected vehicle is an important application scenario for 5G technology, we (CSAE) have the ability and resources to bring together our domestic automobile manufacturers to help provide feedback, about the standards, to 3GPP."
