From: Yun-Chao Hu (ERA) [Yun-Chao.Hu@ERA.ERICSSON.SE] Sent: 24 November 2000 00:10 To: 3GPP_TSG_CN_WG1@LIST.ETSI.FR Subject: Invitation to the Beijing Meeting - Part 2 Hi Colleagues, By now you receive the invitation to the Beijing meeting. Since hosting a meeting in China is not one of the easiest task since the complexity of VISA arrangements I will spend a more words on the procedure to be followed: * VISA Application You are assumed to have a business visa (type F) to enter China unless your country has a visa agreement with China. In this case you need to send your personal information (see "Application for Invitation" form) to our contact person in China (Bette.Guo@etc.ericsson.se) who will make sure that you will receive an invitation letter from a Chinese based company in 3-5 working days. This invitation letter is needed for your Visa application. In normal circumstances a VISA procedure will take about 5 working days in most consulair offices. Please note the deadline of 15th of December 2000 for sending the "Application for Invitation" form. * Hotel Reservation You are responsible for your own hotel reservation at the Swissotel Beijing by phone, fax or email. A fax form has been attached for your convenience. Please note the deadline for the registration is set on the 31st of December 2000. This means that most of you will make the hotel reservation before their winter holidays. Please indicate clearly that you require an airport pick-up either by means of a shuttle bus or private limousine. I have to give a warning that most taxi drivers are not able top speak nether to read English. Therefore, the airport pickup is strongly recommended, unless you mastered Chinese in the meantime. * Meeting Registration The meeting registration is only available via the 3GPP Website. Please use to guidance of the electronic meeting registration that is provided in the invitation letter. The deadline of the meeting registration is set to 5th of January, 2001. You can check your own registration by clicking on the meeting hyperlink which will guide you to "List of xx Participants" hyperlink. Now, you shall be able to see a table with the registered participants. I would like to urge the MCC secretariats to make sure that the CN WG meetings are listed on the 3GPP website. At midnight, 23rd of November, the meetings were not shown in the electronic 3GPP meeting registration table. Please be informed that it is recommended not to rent cars in China. First of all it might cause difficulties to read the road signs, but more important that the traffic rules are challenging to understand. Having said this, the only thing that rest me to say for the ones I will not meet at the TSG#10 Plenaries: Merry Christmas and a happy new year and do not work to hard during your winter break (it would be nice to see Beijing from an other position than the hotel windows). <> Kind regards, Yun-Chao Hu PS I requested the MCC secretariats to forward my email to the CN WG email lists, but I have myself subscribed to the missing CN WGs , so I send the invitation myself. If yiou receive the invitation twice my appologies. ------------------------------------------------------ Ericsson Radio Systems AB Core Network Mobile Systems Global Mobile Standardization & Regulation Yun-Chao Hu Standardization Manager Tel. +46 (0)8 508 78153 Fax. +46 (0)8 508 77300 Mobile +46 (0)70 211 3857 Email: Yun-Chao.Hu@era.ericsson.se ----------------------------------------------------------
