Dear SA5 colleagues,
Please find below a summary of SA5 results at SA#33 in Palm Springs, California, USA, September 25-28, 2006, hosted by NAF.
Please consult the SA#33 report for full details on the issues below and other items.
All SA5 contributions to SA have been approved except 2 Charging CRs in SP-060524: CR0133, CR0134. We faced again some issues with the quality of our documents even though it should be acknowledged that a big majority of our documents are correct. It is also to be noted that we mainly had problems with documents output from SA5#48 in Kunming which tends to show that the CR quality check session introduced at SA5#49 in Budapest was beneficial. See below for more information.
-
SP-060524
It was commented that the table modified by CR0134 was
different than that in the specification. After some investigation, it was
confirmed that CR0134 was not based on Rel-7 but on Rel-6 TS. In fact, both
Rel-6 (CR0133, S5-060631) and Rel-7 (CR0134, S5-060632) CRs are based on the
wrong TS version 660 instead of 670 and 720. In this context, we had no choice
but to withdraw both CR0133 and CR0134. They will have to be resubmitted to next
SA5 meeting based on the correct TS versions.
-
SP-060531
This document includes 2 Rel-6/7 CRs (S5-061202,
S5-061210). It was asked whether this is an essential correction for Release 6
as the consequences if not approved is "reader confusion". It was decided that
this was acceptable this time, but care should be taken in making only essential
changes to frozen Releases. These CRs were then approved.
-
SP-060533
It was asked where is the Rel-7 mirror CR of the Rel-6
CR0017 (S5-060935r1). After investigation, it was explained that there is no
need for Rel-7 mirror CR as Rel-7 CR0018 in SP-060552 has a larger scope
and SP-060553 was approved. It is to be noted that CR0018 in SP-060552 should
have been split into 2 CRs: the Rel-7 mirror CR and another CR for the Rel-7
additional changes, as we usually do.
-
SP-060550
In CR0009, there is a paragraph with no header at the
beginning of clause 4.4.3. In CR0010, there are revisions on revisions, which is
strictly forbidden. SP-060550 was updated and approved in
SP-060663.
-
SP-060611
It was commented that the last change in 32.635 CR0018
(S5-060719r1) changes the version number from 6.3.0 to 6.4.0. (32.635 CR0017
correctly changes version 6.4.0 to 6.5.0). This seems to indicate that the
incorrect version was used to create the CR. After confirmation, 32.635 CR0018
was revised in TD SP 060655 and approved.
- SA1
presentation (SP-060462, slides 44 & 46)
A change request on cell
capability usage was agreed in SA1 and it was observed that there may be the
need of SA5 to study how to implement this requirement. SA plenary asked SA5 to
review this change request and provide feedback to SA1 (S1-060964).
- SA5
presentation (SP-060639, slide 15)
It was noted by SA that there is a
misalignment on the TSG CT progress for Trace. The TSG CT Chairman reported that
the main reason for late completion in TSG CT is the IETF protocol
dependencies.
- Rel-6 CRs
The SA Chairman asked the WG
Chairs to check more carefully the Rel-6 CRs to make sure that only
essential corrections are submitted to next SA meetings. SA5 plenary will
have to take this recommendation into account from SA5#50.
- Rel-7
Closure
Stage 2 for Rel-7 Features is frozen at TSG#33 (except for some
exceptions required by SA2).
SA#33 decision is that the Rel-7 Freeze Date
is March 2007.
At SA#34 (December 2006), WGs should provide
foreseen completion dates as accurate and realistic as possible.
At
SA#35 (March 2007), SA WGs and other TSGs should bring a list of exceptions for
the items not completed at that time.
Reminder: frozen release means no new TS and no category B and C CRs.
