SA WG2#137 has been replaced by electronic meeting SA WG2#137E ============================================================== Fri 31/01/2020 17:04 (CET) Cancellation of all face-to-face 3GPP SA WGs/Plenary Meetings in Q1/2020 ======================================================================== Dear SA WG and SA Plenary delegates, After several conference calls today with the TSG and SA WG chairs, the following bullets list our agreement on the immediate next steps due to the Corona Virus situation. 1. All SA WGs face-to-face meetings in Q1 will be cancelled (including also f2f ad-hoc, sub-WG, etc meetings). Detailed information on hotel cancellation etc will follow over the next days. 2. Chairs can individually for their groups decide whether they want to convert these meetings to e-meetings instead. Scope and further details will be subject to further discussion over next week. 3. The face-to-face SA#87 Plenary meeting in March is cancelled. SA#87 will be converted to an e-meeting, which is only there for approval of WG agreed documents, possibly also LS’s and some documents for information (e.g. reports). 4. The May WG meetings planned in China will all be re-located to other destinations. For SA WGs no further f2f meetings are planned in Q2 in China. 5. The cancellation of the Q1 meetings doesn’t mean we will cancel all meetings until WHO takes back the global health warning. As 3GPP leadership we see that the situation at this moment in time is critical and there is not enough information available to make sure that delegates will be safe when travelling to/from and attend meetings. Therefore the Q1 cancellations must be seen as a step to immediately reduce the risk for delegates. If the planning for further meetings needs to be assessed, this will be done separately – for the moment all meetings beyond Q1/2020 should be regarded as planned in the 3GPP calendar. SA and TSG leadership will coordinate with the hosts of the meetings and we will provide you with updates over the next days. We are aware that many of you will still have a lot of questions and we will try to answer them, but we have to ask also your patience, as this situation is exceptional and certain issues need some time to be evaluated and decided upon. We see these decisions are in the best interest for the health and safety of 3GPP delegates and we are sorry for all inconveniences that will arise to you or your companies due to this. Thanks for your understanding. Best regards, Georg (this mail is sent individually to all SA WG and the SA plenary mailing lists) -- Georg Mayer 3GPP SA Chairman Huawei Technologies
