Notes from the TEI17_IPU conf call January 18, 2021. Participants: Ericsson, Vodafone, Nokia, T-Mobile US, China Mobile, China Unicom, TI, Huawei, Orange, Qualcomm, Tencent, Samsung, ZTE, AT&T, LGE, Sony, Perspecta Labs, Spirent, Juniper, (sorry if I missed anyone) TMO US commented that the proposed solution seems to co-exist well with existing PCF-based solution. Vfe asked about the justification. It was clarified that UDM option allows a single interaction to PCF, and that there is no need to update the IP Index during a PDU Session lifetime. Nokia commented that getting IP Index from UDM in case of UE is using 4G would come for free if anyway the SM subscription data with slice information is retrieved. Huawei commented that it should be clarified how SMF knows whether it should contact UDM. It was discussed that SMF is configured to get SM subscription data e.g. when it has been configured to use IP index during IP address allocation. CMCC commented about the use cases, and that it should be more clear that it can also be used if there are e.g. multiple (potentially overlapping) IP pools in SMF. It was discussed that a NOTE with examples could be added to the text. The draft CRs where reviewed and suggestions for improvements were made. The updated versions of the draft CRs and presentation are available here (file names ending in _v2): https://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Email_Discussions/SA2/TEI17_IPU Best regards, Stefan
