Feature:     DS-CDMA introduction in the 800 MHz band

Spectrum for IMT-2000 was first identified at WARC-92, and additional spectrum was allocated at WRC-2000, in particular 806 to 960 MHz.  That band is currently used in Japan for various mobile services.  A rationalization of those services is currently being examined by the national telecommunication council, and it is likely that this band could be used for IMT-2000 in the near future.

The objectives of this work item are:

[810 – 855] MHz: Up-link (UE transmit, Node B receive)
[855 – 900] MHz: Down-link (Node B transmit, UE receive)

Work to be accomplished by R4, with R2 studying signalling issues and R3 studying interface aspects.
