Dionisio Zumerle

Dionisio Zumerle/

I am Italian, born and raised in Athens, Greece.

After having spent my last year in the University of Rome "La Sapienza" conducting R&D activities around ad hoc WLAN Medium Access Layer techniques for Marconi-Selenia (now Selex Communications), I graduated in 2003 with a Laurea in Ingegneria delle Telecomunicazioni, also working part-time for Google as a contractor.

I then immediately joined Poste italiane, the Italian postal carrier but also a major bank, MVNO and Certification Authority, where I was involved in several projects from design and capacity planning of SOA-based applications to bi-dimensional bar codes, and from Program Management Office set-up and running to ATM kiosk integration and roll-out.

I arrived in the South of France and ETSI in 2005 and was responsible for the security standardization activities of the Institute, managing several ETSI security-related Technical Committees, among which the ETSI Lawful Interception one. Within the Operational Co-ordination ad hoc Group on Security (ETSI OCG SEC) I managed the creation of the, now annual, ETSI Security Workshop, as well as the publication of several ETSI White Papers on security, among which the very first number of the Institute's series.

I joined 3GPP and the Mobile Competence Centre of ETSI in 2007, where I currently take care of program management on security aspects for 3G and LTE/SAE. I am also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
